The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office needs motivated, dependable, and dedicated men and women to serve the citizens of the county! If you are interested in a position with a growing, professional law enforcement agency, SCSO may be the place for you. SCSO offers opportunities in Uniform Patrol, Jail, Investigations, Traffic Enforcement, School Resource Officer, Courts, Civil Papers- all of the police services the citizens of the county rely on their Sheriff to provide.


Starting salary, Jailer: $10.05/hr

Starting salary, Deputy: $11.66/hr

County-supported Securian Money fund retirement plan as well as two 457 plans

10 paid holiday days per year

Vacation time accrues at 1 week per year for the first two years, 2 weeks/year after 2 years

Sick time accrues at 4 hours per month


About Jail Officer positions:

Jail positions are available to US citizens with a high school diploma or GED over the age of 18. New hires will be certified as Jail Officers through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) within 6 months of employment. Basic Mandate training is offered on a merit basis.


About Deputy positions:

Applicants for Mandated Deputy positions should be US citizens over the age of 20 who have completed Basic Mandate.

Applications are accepted on a continual basis, but not processed until a position is vacant. Applications more than 6 months old will not be considered. Applicants with more than 7 points on their license, convictions for any felony or drug related offense, with pending criminal actions or under investigation by law enforcement, unable to obtain a Georgia driver’s license,  adverse credit, any medical or physical impairment that would prevent applicant from satisfactorily performing the essential functions of the position applied for or complying with standards set by the Georgia Peace Officers Standard and Training Council,  any known association with any group, organization or otherwise whose primary objective is to foster hatred, oppression, or persecution of any  individual, group of individuals, or any private or public company or organization, or is not a citizen of the United States will not be eligible for employ with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.
